The space sector is increasingly investing in cutting-edge technologies in the development, commercialisation and use of space products and services. Emerging technologies are not only being acknowledged in several national space policies and programs, but they are also, in many cases, being regulated in law, either with a view to establish rules to mitigate their risks, either with a view to assist in, and promote, their development.
This Space Brief addresses the approach being adopted, and the role of space, in relation to three technology topics: Artificial Intelligence (AI), DLT/blockchain, and quantum technologies, with a brief reference to virtual worlds also being made.
