José Miguel Oliveira, Kenny Laisse and Caio de Mello Ferreira are the authors of the Mozambique chapter in the 'Chambers Global Practice Guide: Shipping 2026', published by Chambers and Partners.

The publication provides an overview of the legal and regulatory framework governing shipping in Mozambique, covering areas such as port State control, maritime accidents, cargo and passenger claims, ship arrest, tax incentives for shipowners, environmental regulation, trade sanctions and international dispute resolution.

The guide also highlights the growth potential of Mozambique’s maritime sector, noting that realising these opportunities will depend on a robust legal framework and its effective implementation.
