Joaquim Pedro Lampreia is interviewed by Jornal de Negócios in an article that outlines the predictions of 184 business leaders for the world and national economy in 2025.
In the article entitled ‘184 leaders anticipate 2025’, Joaquim Pedro Lampreia foresees a year influenced by the decisions and intentions of the future President of the United States, Donald Trump. As a result, the VdA lawyer predicts that the North American business sector could benefit from significant growth, which could boost global markets in the short term, but with the costs of this policy manifesting themselves in the future.
On the European scene, Joaquim Pedro Lampreia anticipates a scenario of loss of competitiveness, attributed to numerous factors, including the costs arising from the Draghi Report, defence costs, Chinese competition and North American protectionism.
For Portugal, Joaquim Pedro Lampreia predicts that the country will be able to benefit to some extent from the Spanish economy, but warns that the lack of significant reforms will prevent it from taking greater advantage of the opportunities. ‘The government will - once again - devote a large part of its energy to the State Budget (OE), navigating by sight. 2025 will be a year of bonanza before the storm,’ concludes Joaquim Pedro Lampreia.
