Magda Cocco, Partner, and Iakovina KindylidiSenior International Adviser, wrote the chapter on Portugal in the latest edition of Panoramic Next: Artificial Intelligence, a Lexology publication providing a comparative analysis of key legal and regulatory developments in Artificial Intelligence across multiple jurisdictions.

The VdA lawyers’ contribution examines the legal framework for AI in Portugal, with a particular focus on the impact of the AI Act, its interaction with existing regimes, including data protection, fundamental rights, national security and trade, as well as the challenges related to supervision, oversight and the responsible adoption of AI systems.

The chapter also explores recent trends, the most dynamic sectors in the adoption of AI-based solutions, relevant international initiatives and best practices for assessing and mitigating the legal and ethical risks associated with these technologies.
