Magda Cocco took part in the 1st Internet Governance Forum, organised by the General Regulatory Authority (AGER), which took place from 28 to 30 July in São Tomé and Príncipe, under the theme: ‘Connectivity as a Pillar for Digital Inclusion’.

On the second day of the event, Magda Cocco contributed to the panel discussion on ‘Regulation and Governance of Digital Services’, where she delivered a presentation titled ‘Navigating the Digital Frontier: Balancing Innovation and Regulation in Future Digital Infrastructures’. In her talk, Magda Cocco explored the delicate balance between effective regulation of digital infrastructure and services and fostering economic progress.

The panel also featured Mário Campolargo (professor at the University of Aveiro, former Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Administrative Modernisation of Portugal, and former General Manager at the European Commission), Dalila Rita (interim chair of the board of directors at the Institute for Innovation and Knowledge), and Juliano Cappi, an advisor to the Internet Steering Committee in Brazil.

Key topics discussed included risk-based regulation, digital literacy, the challenges and opportunities posed by modern regulation, and the role of digital infrastructure as a vital element of public governance.
