Jorge Maria Montenegro

Jorge Maria Montenegro joined VdA in 2025. He is an Associate in the Banking & Finance practice.

He has focused his practice on corporate finance, acquisition finance, development finance and project finance transactions, in both the domestic and international markets, as well as multi-jurisdictional syndicated financings and alternative lending, from structuring through to implementation.

In addition, he advises on capital markets transactions, including the issuance and placement of debt instruments.

He also has experience in securitisation transactions, mortgage bond issuances, asset portfolio financings and other asset-backed structures.

He represents banks, alternative lenders, financial institutions, borrowers and sponsors in a wide range of domestic and cross-border transactions.

Law Degree, Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University, Porto.

LL.M. in Law in a Digital Economy, Católica Global School of Law, Lisbon.

Law School Global League, Emerging Technologies and Sustainability, King’s College, The Dickson Poon School of Law, London.

Prior to joining the firm, he worked at PLMJ Advogados, where he was part of the Corporate, M&A and Private Equity practice until 2025.

Author of the article “Social Electricity Tariff in Portugal: Contextualisation, Nature, and Legal-Economic Implications for the Energy Transition”, published in Temas Relevantes no Direito de Energia Elétrica, Volume X, Synergia Editora, 2023.
