Inês Maltez Fernandes joined VdA in 2025. She is a managing associate in the Energy & Natural Resources practice where she has been actively involved in several transactions, particularly in the financing (project finance) of projects in the energy sector, with a focus on renewable energy projects, and in advising the various entities operating in the sector in regulatory matters.
Most of her work has been developed in the energy law area, taking part in M&A, commercial and financing transactions with particular focus in the renewable energies, oil and gas and offshore wind sectors, in multiple jurisdictions.

Before joining the firm, she worked as Senior Legal Counsel at Principle Power.
Previously, she co-headed the Corporate and M&A area at Sousa Machado, Ferreira da Costa & Associados and worked at Sociedade Rebelo de Sousa & Advogados Associados as Senior Associate of the Corporate Finance area.
Earlier, she was seconded at the Legal Affairs Department of Novo Banco from F. Castelo Branco e Associados.
She also worked as a Legal Advisor to the Secretary of State for Energy during the XIX and XX Constitutional Governments.
She started her career at Miranda Correia Amendoeira & Associados as Trainee and Associate Lawyer.
Author of various publications on matters within her fields of expertise.
