Joaquim Pedro Lampreia is quoted by Jornal de Negócios in an article entitled "SIFIDE had maximum number of applications in 2023".

According to the National Innovation Agency (ANI), in 2023 the number of applications to the Tax Incentive System for Research and Business Development (SIFIDE) increased by 26 % compared to the previous year, totalling 5,598 applications and a declared investment of 2.6 billion euros.

Joaquim Pedro Lampreia justifies this increase by saying that "since the new rules reduce and make the tax benefit more difficult, investors felt they had one last chance to access it".

For Joaquim Pedro Lampreia, the result of the rules imposed by Parliament anticipates a significant decrease in investment levels from 2024 onwards, since they "bring very big problems" and "drastically limit the type of investment". These regulatory changes will contribute to "funds being limited and starting to have to invest more to meet the timetable, rather than making judicious investments", says the VdA lawyer.
