Magda Cocco was interviewed by Diário de Notícias as part of her participation in the conference cycle ‘On the Road to a Digital Society’, an online debate promoted by the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, taking place this Wednesday 12 March at 18:30.
The theme ‘’Things of Law in the Digital‘’ sets the tone for the debate and interview, in which Magda Cocco emphasises the importance of a dynamic and adaptable digital regulation, capable of keeping up with the growth of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, blockchain and the ‘’Internet of Things‘’. ‘The European legislator has endeavoured to ensure that the digital legal framework is future proof, i.e. that the legislation is prepared to keep up with the fast pace of technological change,’ she said.
To tackle disinformation and online hate speech, Magda Cocco emphasised the fundamental role of the legislator in promoting transparency on digital platforms and creating efficient mechanisms for removing harmful content. She also emphasised the importance of digital education and media literacy to enable citizens to identify disinformation effectively.
