Pedro Cassiano Santos signed the Portugal chapter of the publication "In-Depth: Banking Regulation", published by Lexology.

The chapter addresses the current situation and prospects of the banking sector in Portugal, highlighting the sector’s resilience after the 2008 economic crisis. It also emphasises the trend towards consolidation in the banking market, with an expected increase in M&A transactions throughout this year. Among these transactions are the potential sale of Novo Banco, S.A. and the sales of Banco Português de Gestão and Banco Empresas Montepio, which are awaiting regulatory authorization.

Pedro Cassiano Santos also analyses the efforts to reduce financial leverage, as well as the current economic challenges faced by inflation and high interest rates.
