Tiago Correia Moreira (Partner) has been invited, by the Bank of Portugal, to join the Working Group on the Digital Euro, to discuss the possible launch of the digital euro and cryptocurrencies.

"In a year in which the price of bitcoin has almost doubled in value and the price of Ethereum, another cryptocurrency, has accumulated a gain of 526%, the BdP - powerless to regulate these decentralised systems - has been warning investors of the various risks of investing in cryptocurrencies. However, the BdP's understanding is that a digital currency issued by a central bank, such as the ECB, brings together the best of the innovation of the "crypto" world with the "advantages" of a regulated financial asset or means of payment".
