Assunção Cristas, Catarina Pinto Correia, Carolina Vaza and Mariana Vicente are the authors of the Portugal chapter in the 'Agribusiness 2025' guide, published by Chambers and Partners.

In this publication, VdA’s lawyers analyse the legal framework governing agribusiness in Portugal, a market increasingly shaped by innovation and investment. The chapter covers topics such as agricultural policies and planning instruments, rural land use regulation and foreign ownership restrictions, and environmental requirements.

The analysis also addresses agribusiness credit instruments and export financing structures, the role of investment funds and securitisation in the sector, the tax regime for rural operations, as well as recent legal and regulatory developments.

The 'Agribusiness 2025' guide brings together contributions from multiple jurisdictions and provides a comparative overview of the key challenges and trends shaping the global agribusiness market.
