Miguel Mendes Pereira talks to the Global Competition Review
Portugal's government has published the country's new competition law, bringing it in line with that of the European Union and the requirements of the country's memorandum of understanding with the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund, writes the Global Competition Review in its 10 May edition.
Heard by the publication, Miguel Mendes Pereira, Vieira de Almeida & Associados' of counsel at the Competition & EU area of practice, stressed that "expectations are running high" as Portugal "desperately needs a healthy competitive economy", given the financial crisis the country is in, writes the Review. "A well-respected authority acting under a balanced Competition Act is an important ingredient for such an environment," VdA's lawyer added.
