Paula Gomes Freire was quoted in a Jornal de Negócios article entitled "173 leaders anticipate 2024", in which he shared his thoughts on the economic and political expectations for next year.

"It's expected that 2024 will be marked by higher levels of growth than 2023. The increase in household disposable income, as a direct result of the containment of inflation, will favour the growth of consumption and, to that extent, could induce growth. Interest rates are expected to remain within current levels and, as such, some predictability will be restored in terms of borrowing. However, the risks of the prolongation of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East will continue to put pressure on energy costs and could put pressure on prices. In Portugal, the scenario of political instability marks the horizon, with the entire first quarter likely to be marked by an electoral campaign. The climate emergency, the energy transition and the challenges posed by the emergence of generative artificial intelligence will require 2024 to be a year of action."
