Joaquim Pedro Lampreia was quoted in a Jornal de Negócios article entitled "173 leaders anticipate 2024", in which he shared his thoughts on the economic and political expectations for next year.
"In 2024, we expect a 'soft landing' of the American economy and a consequent improvement in the European outlook. In this area, the world has shown resilience in the face of various emergencies (who still remembers the SVB and the panic it caused?) and is pushing through the major climate problem. The same should happen in 2024. China's economic trajectory will become clearer: will it resume growth or will the problems increase? The second hypothesis seems more likely. Politically, two elections will mark the year. The geopolitical situation will be "frozen" until the US presidential elections, with few developments in Sino-American relations and the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. Domestically, much will depend on the March elections, both in terms of stability and the direction that will be taken. Here, there is little reason for optimism."
