VdA and VdA Academia support the participation of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (FDUL) team in the 33rd edition of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, one of the most prestigious international competitions in the field of commercial arbitration.

The competition addresses current issues in international arbitration, including the application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).

From 27 March to 2 April, the team took part in the final phase of the competition in Vienna, alongside more than 390 teams from around the world. This year marked a milestone, as the team reached the Round 16 for the first time, becoming the first Portuguese team to do so.

In preparation for this stage, the team participated in the Pre-Moots held in Warsaw, Prague, Lisbon and Belgrade.

The team’s preparation was supported by Gonçalo Pacheco Vilela and Ricardo Ramos Lourenço, from VdA, reflecting the Firm’s commitment to the development of future generations of legal professionals. It also benefited from the contribution of António Pestana Araújo and Catarina Almeida Coelho.

The team is composed of five FDUL students — Beatriz Ramirez, Gonçalo Afonso, Luís Pedro Bravo, Miguel Moita Martins and Rita Alves Pernes — and is coordinated by Professor José Ferreira Gomes.
