Inês Melo

Inês Melo joined VdA in 2019. She is an Associate in the Information, Communication & Technology practice.

She has been actively involved in projects related to media and entertainment, consumer law and advertising, privacy and personal data protection, information technology and emerging technologies, from both contractual and regulatory perspectives.

She has served as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and provides ongoing support to clients across various sectors, including retail, insurance, banking and finance, healthcare, and communications. In this context, she has been actively involved in the implementation of compliance programmes, the defence in administrative offence proceedings, and the definition of strategies in complex operations—namely through the identification and assessment of risks, the preparation of legal opinions, and the drafting, review, and negotiation of policies, contractual instruments, and other documents relevant to compliance with legal and regulatory obligations. She has also supported projects involving the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions, ensuring compliance with its legal framework, in particular with data protection requirements.

She also advises on intellectual property matters, including the analysis, protection, and valorisation of assets, as well as the negotiation and drafting of licensing agreements, and supports projects involving digital content, ensuring an integrated and strategic approach. Additionally, she advises on M&A transactions at both national and international levels across the various sectors in which she operates.”
