Maria Araújo

Maria Araújo joined VdA in 2015. She is a Managing Associate in the M&A area of practice with strong ties to the Oil&Gas practice group.

Amid her many capabilities and experience - which include a background in litigation -, Maria’s 10-year accumulated experience dealing with Equatorial Guinea-related matters and OHADA jurisdictions stands out.

Maria has also been involved in several cross-border operations (including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and corporate finance transactions), mainly relating to Portugal and Africa (and particularly to Equatorial Guinea, Angola and Guinea-Bissau), involving clients carrying out activities in such diverse sectors as the oil & gas, energy, telecommunication, insurance, agriculture, construction, maritime, transportation and tourism sectors, among others.

On the oil&gas side, Maria has been advising clients on various projects and transactions throughout the oil and gas value chain, including inter alia drafting and negotiating contracts and other instruments requiring a wide-ranging multidisciplinary experience.

Law degree University of Lisbon Faculty of Law.

Before joining the firm she worked as an Associate at Miranda Correia Amendoeira & Associados, Sérvulo & Associados and Ferreira Pinto & Associados.

Admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association.
