Inês Melo

Inês Melo joined VdA in 2019. She is an Associate in the Information, Communication & Technology practice.

She has been actively involved in advising on media and content, personal data protection, and technology matters, both from a contractual and regulatory perspective. Her experience includes drafting and reviewing a wide range of contracts, such as sponsorship agreements, data processing agreements, distribution and licensing agreements, as well as partnership and service contracts involving multiple stakeholders across diverse sectors. She regularly prepares legal memoranda and opinions on platform regulation, consumer law (including e-commerce and distance selling), privacy, and media law, and reviews website documentation, including privacy policies, cookie policies, and terms of use.

She also advises on M&A transactions within her areas of expertise and has participated in major national and international operations across various industries. In the field of privacy and personal data protection, she has contributed to compliance programmes, helped define strategic approaches, and drafted the necessary documentation and policies to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to best practices. She has experience acting as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and providing ongoing legal support to DPOs and data protection teams in national business groups from sectors such as: food and retail, sports, postal communications, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. In this context, she has handled tasks including responding to data subject requests and complaints, reviewing records of processing activities and data protection contracts, and conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).In addition, she advises on intellectual property matters and has a strong focus on advertising law, gaming, and related digital media issues.
