Emanuela Vunge, PRIME Advogados' Managing Partner, gave an interview to Jornal Expansão, in which she reflected on the main social, economic and institutional challenges that Angola faces, emphasising the need for practical and structural solutions to ensure a stable future for future generations.

Among the topics discussed, she highlighted the importance of education, health and the reduction of social inequalities as pillars for the country's development. She also emphasised the growing gap between urban and rural areas, defending the need for policies that ensure dignity, access to basic services and economic opportunities for all communities.

In this context, justice in Angolan society also plays a central role. According to Emanuela Vunge, it is “a concept that is still little known,” revealing deep fragilities in the functioning of institutions. Low confidence in the judicial system, the normalisation of violence and the persistence of traditional practices that conflict with fundamental rights underscore the need for stronger institutions, effective protection and enhanced civic education. To address these challenges, she argues for a clear role of the State in safeguarding constitutional principles, particularly when traditional justice exceeds limits that compromise human rights.

In her integrated reading of Angola’s social and economic landscape, Emanuela Vunge stresses that the country’s development requires stronger institutions, more accessible and effective justice, consistent public policies and a collective commitment to legality and progress. Her reflection reinforces the decisive role of law — and legal practice — in building a fairer, more transparent and more resilient Angola, capable of meeting the challenges of the decades ahead.
