Ana Luís de Sousa was quoted by Expresso about the new Legal Regime for Electric Mobility, published in August, which will dictate the extinction of Mobi.E in January 2027. This new law introduces structural changes to the sector, allowing charging stations for electric vehicles to operate outside the public network , opening up space for new investments.

For the VdA partner, ‘the new law was designed to promote the expansion of the network. By eliminating Mobi.E’s centralised management, operators are expanding their activities, encouraging new investments in the expansion of their networks and the arrival of new players’.

Given that the electric vehicle market in Portugal grew by 35.2% in the first eight months of the year (data from the Portuguese Automobile Association), these legislative changes promise to accelerate the expansion of the network and enhance the country's attractiveness to new operators.
