Miguel Mendes Pereira talks to Jornal de Negócios

Different laws between Member States and lack of support thereof may diminish fraud combat efficiency in the EU, writes Jornal de Negócios newspaper in its 24 July edition quoting Miguel Mendes Pereira, partner at VdA's Competition & EU practice who added: 'this will surely hinder the harmonization aimed by the Commission in order to assure the prosecution's efficiency in all Member States'. Nonetheless, the European Commissioner for Justice has "appealed to the support from all Member States so that the European Public Prosecutor 'may start its activity on the 1 January 2015'".
