Helena Correia Mendonça participated in the inaugural edition of the ‘UN - Portugal Outer Space Fellowship’, held from 7 to 11 July in Lisbon.
The VdA lawyer joined the panel titled ‘Earth Observation: Policy, Governance and Markets’, alongside Haimanot Tefera, Project Manager and Researcher at the Space Economy Office of Nova School of Business and Economics.
This training programme, organised in partnership with the United Nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Portuguese Space Agency, was designed to address the most pressing issues in the space sector. It also aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to effectively contribute to the development of space-related policies.
The course seeks to empower leaders, foster international cooperation, and support the creation of national strategies for the sustainable use of space. Furthermore, it aims to raise awareness of both the challenges and opportunities associated with space activities, preparing participants to meet the strategic demands of this ever-evolving sector.
