Tiago Bessa is taking part this Wednesday, 17 September, in the SBC Summit Lisbon, the largest international event dedicated to iGaming and sports betting.

The VdA Partner will join the panel “Portugal: smooth sailing or danger ahead?”, which will examine the evolution of the national online betting market.

In 2024, Portugal recorded all-time high profits in the iGaming sector, driven by the growth of the online casinos but offset by a decline in sports betting. This situation raises questions as to whether the current regulatory framework ensures safe betting practices and whether negative repercussions could lie ahead for Portuguese operators.

The panel will also feature Rui Magalhães (CEO, Estoril Sol Digital), Américo Loureiro (Director, Solverde S.A.), Tomas Gonçalves (Managing Director, Apostas Sociais – Santa Casa), and Tiago Pereira (Head of Portugal, LeBull.pt), with moderation by Bernardo Neves (Secretary-General of APAJO).
