The National Olive Oil Congress will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of May, marking its 8th edition at a time when Portugal is positioned as the world’s sixth-largest olive oil producer and the third-largest exporter in Europe.

Assunção Cristas will participate at 02:30 pm as a keynote speaker in the panel 'ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) in the olive growing and olive oil sectors', followed by a debate at 03:00 pm alongside Pedro Raposo (chairman of PRA, Raposo e Sá Miranda e Associados), Pedro Cruz (ESG coordinator partner at KPMG), Rute Xavier (Portuguese Catholic University), Eládio Petro Gonçalves (Caja Rural del Sul), and Rita Nabeiro (director of Grupo Nabeiro-Delta Cafés and CEO of Adega Mayor).

This initiative, organised by the Centro de Estudos e Promoção do Azeite do Alentejo (CEPAAL) with the support of the Campo Maior Municipal Council, seeks to respond to the major challenges facing the sector, which include new geopolitical contexts, water resilience and water management.
