On 19 February, Tiago Bessa took part in the MeDeMAP event, hosted by Lusófona University, under the theme ‘Journalists and Audiences – Dissonant Perceptions’.

As a member of a panel bringing together media professionals and experts, the VdA partner contributed to the discussion on the legal challenges surrounding media integrity and public perception, in a context marked by the ongoing consolidation of the European regulatory framework.

The session presented the findings of the European MeDeMAP project, which reveal significant differences between journalists and audiences in their perceptions of news integrity, as well as areas of critical convergence. The discussion addressed the implications of these findings for Portugal, at a time when European media regulation and editorial accountability are assuming increasing relevance.

The debate also featured Nuno Cintra Torres (Lusófona University), Jacinto Godinho (RTP), José Alberto Lemos (Público) and Maria Almeida (Fumaça), highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of the initiative.
