VdA Academia once again supports FDUL's team in the 30th edition of the Willem C. Vis Moot, the largest international commercial arbitration competition in the world.

The FDUL team is coordinated by Professor José Ferreira Gomes and has as coaches, on VdA's side, António Pestana Araújo and, on FDUL's side, Catarina Coelho and Carolina Nagy.

The Vis Moot challenges the participants to represent the parties as lawyers in a fictitious dispute subject to the application of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and institutional arbitration. The case in this edition concerns a contract for the purchase and sale of drones, with the rules of the Permanent Court of Arbitration applying, and raising issues of jurisdiction linked to the public nature of one of the parties, the relevance of corruption in arbitration, the suspension/bifurcation of proceedings, the scope of application of the CISG and the application of domestic law remedies.

After having competed in the pre-moots in Istanbul, Prague and Lisbon, the team now advances to the final phase of the competition, which will take place in Vienna between 31 March and 6 April.

The collaboration of VdA and VdA Academia is made under an exclusive protocol with FDUL that is in its 7th consecutive edition.
