Vieira de Almeida & Associados has strengthened its Competition & EU practice area, headed by Nuno Ruiz, with a new team of lawyers led by Miguel Mendes Pereira.
Miguel Mendes Pereira has held positions at the European Commission, the European Union General Court and at the Portuguese Competition Authority. He has now come from Abreu Advogados to become an Of Counsel at VdA. He is also a lecturer and a PhD proponent at the University of Lisbon Faculty of Law. Joining Miguel Mendes Pereira and VdA is also Sofia de Vasconcelos Casimiro, who is a PhD proponent in IT and Author Rights by Queen Mary, University of London and Lourenço Macedo.
Cláudia Coutinho has also joined VdA's Competition & EU area of practice as an associate lawyer.

VdA's strengthening of the Competition & EU area of practice follows the firm's stronghold in the Economic Regulation area and in the EU Law area of practice in which VdA holds a deep knowledge and expertise. VdA's Competition & EU team is now composed of eight lawyers working in close connection with the remaining areas of the firm, as well as with the remaining offices in the country and with the lusophone countries with which VdA keeps privileged relations through VdAtlas, its international platform.
