Apifarma, the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Industry Association, and VdA are holding a conference on 15 April on “The Importance of Protecting Industrial Property Rights in the Pharmaceutical Industry”.

The Secretary of State Assistant to the Minister and for Industry and Innovation, António Castro Guerra, the Vice-President of the Confederation of Portuguese Industry (CIP), João Gomes Esteves, will be attending the conference, which will take place at Centro Cultural de Belém, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be opened by the President of Apifarma, João Almeida Lopes, and Vasco Vieira de Almeida from the law firm VdA.


The speakers present will include Simona Seikyte, responsible for Legal and Policy Affairs – Industrial Property (Pharmaceuticals) for the DG Internal Market, European Commission, whose presentation will address the European Union Policy on Protection of Industrial Property in Pharmaceuticals.

António Magalhães Cardoso, senior partner at VdA, will speak on "Effective Protection of Innovation – The Situation in Portugal” and Paulo Pinheiro, VdA partner, will focus on “Intellectual Property within the Context of Pharmaceutical Industry Regulation”.
