In an article for the Diário Económico in which he analyses the first semester of 2009 for law firms, João Vieira de Almeida shows optimism and concludes that “in the last two months signs of a possible upturn in activity are discernible”.

He also points out that, “the amount of work has not fallen significantly overall, although there has been some redistribution of this work amongst the various areas of practice - with labour being one of the departments showing growth”.


In the same edition, João Vieira de Almeida comments on the remodelling of fee formulae at that has taken place at some law firms in an effort to adjust to lower client liquidity.
