Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA)’s pro bono committee is hosting a debate on “Fighting Poverty and Social Exclusion – the role of Law”, on the 16th December, at 3 p.m.

The MP Maria José Nogueira Pinto, sociologist Alfredo Bruto da Costa, Sandra Anastácio from Ajuda de Berço charity institution, Isabel Jonet from the Food Bank and Mohamed Ahmed, from the National Association for the Right to Credit (Associação Nacional de Direito ao Crédito) are some of the personalities that will be attending the debate with VdA’s pro bono committee lawyers. Issues to be discussed will focus on alterations to be made at a legal level in order to make law an effective instrument in the fight against poverty and social exclusion, namely through the promotion of self-employment and through access to microcredit and the creation of social economy companies.

VdA’s founder, Vasco Vieira de Almeida, will be opening the debate.
