The declaration of a state of emergency has established a number of restrictions on the exercise of rights of residence, movement and migration to any part of the national territory, as well as on the right of international movement. Among such measures, we would like to highlight the following:

  • restrictions on the freedom of movement and presence on public roads, requiring citizens to be submitted to home confinement (without prejudice to urgent and necessary travel);
  • bans on international and inter-island maritime and air connections, with the exception of flights for sanitary and civil protection purposes and emergency situations, provided they are duly authorized by the Prime Minister;
  • establishment of a sanitary fence in the district of Água Grande from 10 p.m. on 8 May to 5 a.m. on 11 May.
