Ricardo Bordalo Junqueiro, lawyer and managing associate at VdA's Competition & EU practice is the author of a book on the prohibition of abuse of dominant position, foreseen in Law nr 19/2012, of the 8th May (Competition Law) and in article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU).

The book analyses the legal framework on abuse of dominant position, and, based on the European and national practice, attempts to draw the outline of the most frequent abusive behaviours, such as refusal to deal, predatory prices, margins squeeze, discrimination, tying and bundling, exclusive agreements, conditional discounts and excessive pricing. It also includes a chapter on other, less frequent types of abuse. The book is published by Almedina and went to stalls this week. It consists of a true theoretical and practical guide to abuse of dominant position situations, proving to be a truly useful tool for all the legal and economic community dealing with such an important subject in what regards the markets' well-functioning.

"Further to ten years dealing with this type of subject in my professional activity, this was a natural step to take," says Ricardo Bordalo Junqueiro.

Nuno Ruiz, VdA's partner heading the Competition & EU practice said himself to be extremely satisfied with this "unparalleled contribute for the discussion of these issues. This book is the result of an enormous endeavor, juggling a daily professional activity with academic research at the highest level. It is an example of excellence at every level. The author should be proud. We are definitely proud of him."
