The second edition of the Biomed-AI Summer School will take place from 11 to 13 September at the National Library of Portugal in Lisbon. The event is organised by WhatNext.Law, a partnership between VdA and NOVA School of Law, together with the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens. This initiative aims to unite the areas of Biomedicine, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data with the principles of ethics and innovation.
The Biomed-AI Summer School aims to explore the revolutionary potential of AI in medicine, promoting its use in an ethical and responsible manner. This initiative emphasises the ethical, legal, and social implications associated with the use of AI in healthcare, seeking to cultivate a culture of regulatory compliance.
The Summer School programme brings together academics and professionals from diverse fields, such as philosophy, law, biomedical sciences and technology. This interdisciplinary approach offers participants a comprehensive overview of the main challenges and opportunities that AI brings to the health sector, as well as the features of Responsible Research Innovation (RRI).
The Biomed-AI Summer School will be feature by renowned speakers from institutions such as the European Parliament, European Health Data Space (EHDS) and universities from Europe and the United States, who will share their perspectives on the future of AI in health. The event is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the European Public Law Organisation and BBMRI-ERIC, underlining the global importance of this initiative.
