On October 31, 2006, CMVM (the Portuguese Securities Markets Commission) granted André Figueiredo the CMVM 2005 Award (ex aequo with José Ferreira Gomes) for his paper “The information disclosed in the capital markets and the powers of the CMVM: a new dimension of Administrative Law?”.

The paper focuses on the role and powers of market regulators, and specifically on the powers of the CMVM related with the information disseminated in the capital markets, aiming to find out whether they follow the traditional patterns of administrative law or, instead, if such powers represent an innovative type of public intervention in the private markets.

This award is bestowed by the CMVM every year to unpublished legal and economic papers on issues related with the capital markets in Portugal.
