VdA is awarded most active firm by the ‘NYSE Euronext Lisbon Awards 2014’

January 31, 2014

For the third consecutive year, VdA is distinguished in capital markets

Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA) has been awarded the ‘NYSE Euronext Lisbon Awards 2014' for ‘Most Active Law Firm in Capital Markets' (Most Active Law Firm) for the third consecutive year. This prize gives recognition to law firms that advise the highest volume of share and bond issuances listed in the Lisbon stock exchange (Euronext) in the equity and debt segments, weighed by their own amounts.

To the NYSE president " this effort should be highlighted and encouraged". In turn, to Pedro Cassiano Santos, partner responsible for VdA's Banking and Finance area of practice, "this is most certainly, the most import prize awarded to financial advocacy in Portugal".

In 2013, the activity in the equity segment was overpowered by a transaction of reference with innovative characteristics, the first significant IPO in the last five years in the Portuguese market. On the other hand, the debt segment was dominated by securitisation transactions corresponding to deficit tariffs and to mortgage loans, being the latter the first securitisation originated in Portugal to be placed on the market for many years, and by public subscription offerings placed by listed companies.

VdA's Banking & Finance and Capital Markets practices, that worked in these transactions led by Pedro Cassiano Santos and José Pedro Fazenda Martins, are also comprised by partners Helena Vaz Pinto (equity), Pedro Simões Coelho (collective investment schemes), Paula Gomes Freire (regulatory capital and asset backed securities) and Cláudia Cruz Almeida (equity), as well as managing associate Hugo Moredo Santos (debt and structures finance).

These prizes are awarded by NYSE Euronext to all players that distinguished themselves in the Portuguese capital markets, namely issuers, brokers, investment banks, analysts, fund managers, academics and law firms.
