As part of its Pro Bono and Social Responsibility Programme Vieira de Almeida & Associados is to play host , between the 22nd and 24th of March, to a group of experts from a number of African member countries of the United Nations. The group will discuss a set of good practices that could be implemented to improve access to justice in post-conflict African societies. This meeting of experts is taking place under the auspices of a project designed to promote access to justice in Africa which is financed by UNDEF (the United Nations Development and Environment Fund), run by UNODC (the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and implemented by PASI (the Paralegal Advisory Service Institute) based in Malawi. In Portugal, the project is supported by the Governance and Justice Group, a Portuguese NGDO dedicated to promoting human rights and justice. VdA’s support for this initiative arises from the Protocol of Collaboration signed between VdA and the Governance and Justice Group and from the Firm’s African connection in the form of its partnership with FBLP (Furtado, Bhikha, Loforte, Popat & Associados). |
